In 2008, Kees founded Brouwerij Dampegheest together with his brother Rinus and friend Herman Zomerdijk. Located in Limmen, in the former cheese warehouse.
The origins of the brewery stemmed from the first beer brewing set that Kees Koot bought in 1992 at a home brew shop in Zutphen. His beer was so popular with friends and family that Kees soon had no more beer for himself. This meant that a larger brewing set was needed. The brewing volume grew steadily and that led to Dampegheest in 2008.
At Brouwerij Dampegheest we brew our beers in a brewing installation we designed ourselves, built from second-hand tanks and parts from the dairy industry. The control of the brewing process is also programmed in-house. This gives us complete control over the entire process technology, allowing us to immediately implement improvements in the brewing process.
